Time to Hang the Lights
Like last year
, it is once again time to hang lights for the middle school show. This year it is Guys and Dolls. Oddly, it is a weekday call this year, so extra help is REALLY needed. The plan is to meet at the old high school (5th and Midland Aves) tomorrow (Wednesday, March 22nd) at 3:30pm. There will be a rehearsal going on, but the balcony and front-of-house booms can be hung first. After rehearsal (6:00?), we'll hang lights over the stage.
Everyone is invited to come help, even if you have no experience.
Dinner will be provided (pizza and/or salads, probably).

For those of you who don't know me, I grew up in Valley Cottage and now live in California. I'm going to be back in NY for a week in July, and I find my allergies really annoying when I'm out there.
Does anyone know where I can get some local honey so that I can start eating it in preparation for my trip?

Calling all (stage)hands
Lighting Crew Call, Friday, March 25th, 8:00am
The Nyack Middle School was once-again screwed by the person they hired to light their show. BJ and I, along with some High School crew members will be bailing them out.
All interested volunteers should report for lighting load-in at the old Nyack High School on the corner of Midland and 5th Aves in Nyack this Friday, March 25th, 2005. We will be hanging, setting, and focusing lights for the Nyack Middle School show (which opens the following weekend).
Bagels and Coffee will be provided for breakfast and pizza will be provided for lunch.
We will get to the school at 8:00am, so if you want to help, you can show up any time after that. We'll work until we're done or until 10:00pm, whichever comes first.

SEUSSICAL The Musical!
I went to see Seussical tonight at Nyack High School and it was the best show I've seen there in a REALLY long time.
"The King and I" in 1983 was amazing and not including the lack of scenery, "The Wiz" was great in 1987.
This show ranks right up there with them.
The pit orchestra was amazing and nearly every member of the cast gave a flawless performance. By next weekend, the lighting crew will probably know their cues and the show will be perfect.
Go see it. Friday at 8:00pm or Saturday at 2:00pm or 8:00pm. Go early because last night people were turned away and tonight almost every seat was full.

I am so elated
Walking home from the Library, I noticed a woman in a SUV parked infront of Candesence and the Yarn store. I notice all traffic violations in Nyack ever since I was a recipient of one of the said violations. And she was coming back to the SUV got in, satrted it up, as a cop pulled up along side of her. And told her to pull around the corner down New Street, where, I can only assume he gave her a ticket. But even w/o a ticket it is the first time I have ever seen a cop pull anyone over on Broadway.
I am psyched, finally.
I am out in town every day, and honestly i see at least 1 uTurn per day, RIGHT IN FRONT of the no UTurn signs. I reallly feel live video taping these, and presenting them to the town board.
Oh well, maybe it is a start.
And Starbucks removed the silly looking fence.
I am currently boycotting them(again, ddon't worry won't last long.)
That is all for now.
|Thursday, December 23rd, 2004|
Tomorrow is December 24th. My favorite day of the year. There's a slight change in the Brass Band schedule this year. For some reason, the senior center is closed for lunch so we will instead be starting at noon in Veteran's Memorial Park (a.k.a. "The Square", where the Christmas Tree and Information Booth are). After that, we'll move corner to corner for about an hour.
Note: If you are going to ask any of the musicians for an autograph, you should put a few dollars in the can first. The money goes to pay for the Christmas breakfast at the senior center, and donations make the musicians friendlier.

There's a new porn shop trying to open on Route 59 near the Nissan dealer in Nyack. They'll even have video peep shows with private booths for your viewing pleasure!
Have an opinion on the matter? The Nyack Planning Board meets to discuss the plans at 7:30pm on Monday, January 10th at Nyack Village Hall. The meeting is, of course, open to the public.( relevant sections from the Nyack Village CodeCollapse )
